I was listening to Richard Fidler on the ABC the other day, talking about an educator who claims that creativity (and therefore innovation) is taught out of us in school. And it got me thinking - did all those years colouring within the lines stifle my creativity? What about yours?
Our son used to be an outside the lines kind of guy - until he went to school and was taught to conform to colouring within the lines. Now, it may be that his fine motor skills have developed enough to have better control of the pencil, or it could be that he just can't be bothered explaining himself anymore.
If we truly want to be an innovative and productive society, shouldn't we be celebrating creativity? Let me know what you think.
